Weekly Data Report — August 31–September 6, 2026
This is the data edition for August 31–September 6, 2026. Every figure below is labeled with its as-of date and source, and every number outside the window is marked as background rather than presented as current.
Where sources disagree — as they do this week on both USDT-on-TRON balance and USDC weekly flow — we show both and explain the difference instead of choosing one.
1. Stablecoin Market Cap (by Token)
| Token | Latest | 7-day change | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| USDT | $183.343B | +$228.6M (+0.12%) | ~60.3% share of total supply |
| USDC | $73.863B | −$6.1M (−0.01%) | ~24% share; source conflict, see note |
| DAI | $4.776B | −$7.0M (−0.15%) | small and stable |
| Big-3 total | $261.982B | +$215.5M (+0.08%) | ~1/9 of the prior week's expansion |
| Total stablecoin supply | $303.9B | n/a (no weekly print) | Sep 3; ATH $322.4B (May 17, 2026) |
Source note: the token-level snapshot is a seven-day comparison read from DeFiLlama on September 2, 2026. A separate trade report credited USDC with a +$584M weekly gain for the week ending September 6. The windows differ and the methods differ, so we report both rather than reconcile them. What is not in dispute is the direction: aggregate supply is roughly flat after four weeks of expansion, and sits about 6% below the May 17 all-time high.
2. USDT Supply by Chain
| Chain | USDT balance | 7-day change | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRON | $91.747B | +$302.7M | largest single-chain USDT pool; methodology differs from TRONSCAN |
| Ethereum | $73.697B | +$189.1M | second-largest pool |
| BSC | $9.180B | +$0.01M | flat |
| Solana | $2.904B | +$70.0M | growing |
| Arbitrum | $842.1M | +$1.9M | flat |
| Polygon | $759.2M | −$45.7M | contracting |
| Avalanche | $342.1M | −$0.3M | flat |
| Hyperliquid L1 | $108.7M | +$6.0M | growing off a small base |
| Other chains | $3.763B | −$295.1M | largest combined decline |
Two counts of TRON's USDT balance circulated this week and they differ by about $2.5B. DeFiLlama's September 2 snapshot puts USDT on TRON at $91.747B; TRONSCAN and Justin Sun put USDT on TRON above $94B (TRONSCAN printed $94.2B on August 24, and Sun restated 'more than $94 billion' on September 1). We treat the gap as a counting-methodology difference — issued supply versus circulating balance — and label each number accordingly. Both agree on the direction and on TRON's rank: first, by a wide margin.
3. TRON Stablecoin Supply
| Metric | Value | As of | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7-day stablecoin supply growth | +$903.4M | Aug 31 | led all networks tracked |
| Total stablecoin supply on TRON | $89.2B (record) | Q2 2026 end | +4.1% q/q; USDT 98.5% of total |
| USDT on TRON (TRONSCAN) | >$94B | Sep 1 restatement | methodology differs from DeFiLlama |
| USDT on TRON (DeFiLlama) | $91.747B | Sep 2 | +$302.7M w/w |
| Cumulative network throughput | >5.7 trillion | Aug 31 | Justin Sun; daily near 1 trillion |
4. Accounts & Activity

| JustLend DAO SBM TVL | $3.38B | Sep 1 | 4th-largest decentralized lender globally |
| sTRX liquid staking | 9.73B TRX / 17,000+ addresses | Sep 1 | JustLend DAO |
| Energy Rental users | 80,000+ | Sep 1 | JustLend DAO |
5. Transfer Volume & Fee Abstraction
| Metric | Value | As of | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| GasFree cumulative volume | $132.6B | Sep 1 | across 7.70M+ transactions |
| GasFree fees saved | $8.48M+ | Sep 1 | cumulative user savings |
| GasFree weekly peak | ~$2.9B | late June (Q2) | record weekly high ~$3.0B in early May |
| Stablecoin card reload volume | $13.8B cumulative | Aug 2026 | TRON = 21% of August reloads by chain |
| Weekly TRON transfer volume | n/a | — | no weekly print found inside the window |
The weekly TRON transfer-volume figure stays n/a: no weekly report covering August 31–September 6 was available at publication. We do not carry forward the prior week's number as if it were current. The GasFree and card-reload series are the best available proxies inside the window and both continue to grow.
6. TRON Energy Market
| Benchmark | Value | TRX | USD equiv. (TRX $0.3316) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cheapest 1h rental, 65k energy | 14 SUN | 0.91 TRX | ~$0.30 |
| Typical 1h rental, 65k energy | 35–38 SUN | 2.28–2.47 TRX | ~$0.75–0.82 |
| Market-wide quote range (standard delegation) | 20–75 SUN/unit | — | the 14 SUN promo 1h rate sits below this range |
| Network burn price | 100 SUN | 6.50 TRX | ~$2.16 |
| 1-day rental, 65k energy (indicative) | ~105 SUN equiv. | 6.83 TRX | ~$2.26 |
The cheapest observed 1-hour quote eased from 18 SUN to 14 SUN this week. USD equivalents are computed at the September 3 spot price of $0.3316 (65,000 energy x SUN price / 1,000,000 = TRX cost). Note that public price tables often publish USD conversions based on stale TRX prices — we recompute rather than copy them.
7. USDT Transfer Cost by Chain (Reference)
| Chain | Typical cost per USDT transfer | Note |
|---|---|---|
| TRON (rented energy, 14 SUN) | ~$0.30 | cheapest 1h quote observed this week |
| TRON (rented energy, typical) | ~$0.75–0.82 | 35–38 SUN 1h quotes |
| TRON (burning TRX, 65k) | ~$2.16 (6.50 TRX) | existing-holder recipient |
| TRON (burning TRX, 131k) | ~$4.34 (13.10 TRX) | new-holder recipient |
| Ethereum (ERC-20) | $1–$10+ | gas-dependent |
| Solana | <$0.10 | low-cost rail |
| BNB Chain (BEP-20) | <$0.10 | cheap EVM rail |
8. TRX Price, Treasury and Fees

|---|---|---|---|
| TRX price | $0.3316 | Sep 3 | −1.8% over 7 days; +2.3% on the day |
| Tron Inc. purchase | 146,138 TRX at $0.3421 avg | Aug 31 | treasury now >712.2M TRX |
| TRX staked | 45.7B | Q2 end | −0.9% q/q; latest available |
| Staking rate | 48.2% | Q2 end | drifting lower |
| Average TRON transaction cost | $0.65 | Q2 2026 | Messari |
What Happened Last Week
Stablecoin supply stopped expanding after four weeks of growth: the Big-3 added $215.5M, roughly one-ninth of the prior week's $1.91B, and total supply held at $303.9B. TRON again led every network in net new stablecoin supply (+$903.4M over seven days) and in USDT-by-chain balance (+$302.7M). Accounts passed 401M and daily active addresses reached 3.88M, nearly double BSC. Meanwhile the structural news came from outside crypto: 21 global banks committed to a joint USD stablecoin company, and the CLARITY Act's September 15 cloture vote moved from uncertain to likely-failing.
Fastest-Growing Indicators
- TRON stablecoin supply: +$903.4M in seven days — the largest increase of any network tracked (Aug 31).
- USDT on TRON: +$302.7M on the week, the largest named-chain increase in the DeFiLlama snapshot (Sep 2).
- GasFree: $132.6B cumulative transfer volume across 7.70M+ transactions, with USDD support added in August (Sep 1).
- TRON accounts: past 401M, roughly 1M net new in a week (Aug 31).
- JustLend DAO: $3.38B SBM TVL, fourth-largest decentralized lender globally (Sep 1).
Declining or Soft Indicators
- Aggregate stablecoin supply: flat at $303.9B, about 6% below the May 17 all-time high of $322.4B.
- USDC: −$6.1M on the September 2 seven-day snapshot (a conflicting report shows +$584M for the week ending Sep 6).
- DAI: −$7.0M on the week, continuing a slow decline.
- USDT on Polygon (−$45.7M) and the 'other chains' residual (−$295.1M): contraction outside the top rails.
- TRX: −1.8% over seven days to $0.3316, underperforming BTC's weekly gain.
Anomalies & Watch Items
- Source divergence on USDT-on-TRON: $91.747B (DeFiLlama, Sep 2) versus >$94B (TRONSCAN / Justin Sun, Sep 1) — a ~$2.5B gap we attribute to counting methodology rather than a data error.
- Source divergence on USDC weekly flow: −$6.1M (DeFiLlama snapshot, Sep 2) versus +$584M (week ending Sep 6) — different windows, unreconciled.
- TRX price softness against a strong tape: BTC gained on the week while TRX fell 1.8%, decoupling the token from the rail's usage metrics.
- Energy quotes easing despite record usage: the cheapest 1h rate fell from 18 SUN to 14 SUN even as accounts, supply and daily actives all rose — supply-side competition (Buy Energy, GasFree) is outrunning demand-side pressure.
- Weekly TRON transfer volume remains n/a; we will not substitute a prior week's figure.
Methodology & Caveats
Token and chain balances come from DeFiLlama snapshots read on September 2, 2026; TRON-native figures (accounts, transactions, USDT balance, supply growth) come from TRON DAO and TRONSCAN disclosures dated August 31–September 1, 2026. Energy quotes are live marketplace prices and move continuously — the values shown are the cheapest and typical ranges observed during the window, not a time-weighted average. USD conversions use the September 3 TRX spot price of $0.3316 and are computed as 65,000 energy x SUN price / 1,000,000 x spot. Weekly transfer volume is reported as n/a when no window-appropriate report exists. Where two credible sources disagree, we publish both rather than average them.
